Tag 45 - Schriftlicher Krams

A) Introduction

Most people would think, as a political scientist the primary goal in most of my work has to do with the understanding of political thoughts and ideas. This is not entirely the case though, because thoughts and ideas are based on structures which can be understood outside of their inherent context. Every structured system can be understood without the semantics of the written word, and this is an important fact about the understanding of the environment, history and how it all overlaps. This is the reason why I was interested in working for the Maker Trust Fund, the region has a rich history with many single entities of historic facts, which needed to be made into a persistent picture. You could say that my job involved charting islands of information, and linking them together.
My work is not finished because I reached the end of the research, I just got a broad overview, and just over 250 years. I may be able to finish most of the open spaces in an additional year of work. This has not just to do with relatively scarce bibliographic results that I got, and the lack of proper scientific research around the area (which is definitely a shame), but also with the widely scattered information that plagues constant progress on the subject. The lack of information about the defensive purposes of the Maker in World War II are not even a problem, because this will be publicized eventually. The bigger problem is the information that is not looked after, what is not preserved by the state, by funds or heritages, by libraries or the public office. This is a wall which can not easily be circumvented, and it needs much more work with which the Maker Trust Fund have started now, and have a reasonable chance of succeeding. But after all, this is just a try, and there is more interest needed by people who have the possibilities of preserving even more. The citizens around the area have a keen interest in the region, and every person knows some stuff about the Maker, which is mostly rumors, half-truths and current Maker Junction events, but nonetheless it is a form of interest. The people lack the funds of additional help though, and it is hard to say if there could be a profit in a long term investment if the interest outside the Maker Rame Peninsula is not so high as it could be.

But I don't want to end the introduction on a sour note, this is not the purpose of these words. It is more a hint about possibilities and chance, a way of showing that the Maker can be of much more interest than it is today. This does not mean it should be a brightly lit entertainment centre with a bowling alley, that is possible, but not desirable. It could be a historic site, in which living history shows what transpired here over the course of centuries.
This is an idea which will take a lot of time, because many of the sites have to be preserved and some are not protected for the time being. This is also an idea which has to grow over time, it has to be filled with much more enthusiasm and vigor than I have to offer. It is likely though, that this place will change in the future much faster, than it has changed in the past.
